Before becoming a full time bellydance teacher and founder of hipsinc, Charlotte Desorgher ran a successful public relations company. She had excellent relations with the media and wrote regular features for various trade publications.
Charlotte is available as a spokesperson for bellydance in general as well as for hipsinc. She is also available to write features and articles.
Background
Charlotte Desorgher, who founded hipsinc in 2007, has been dancing since the age of five; training in ballet, jazz and contemporary dance and going on to gain an honours degree in Dance and Education from the London University Institute of Education. She saw her first bellydancer at a nightclub in London in the early 1980s and was captivated.
Charlotte went on to travel and work in the Middle East where her interest in bellydancing grew. When she returned to the UK she worked part time as a bellydancer as well as teaching stretch classes in London’s Dance Centre (now the Sanctuary) during the Jane Fonda-inspired exercise boom.
In those days there was very little interest in bellydancing. So when, in 1983, Charlotte met her husband, Paul, she decided to join him in his graphic design company, The Grand Design. Charlotte became managing director and helped grow the business, which developed a strong reputation and went on to win some of the industry’s most prestigious awards. She also created a public relations division within The Grand Design.
This business experience gave her a competitive edge when, in 2002, she decided to start teaching bellydancing. It was a great success and, in 2006, she gave up working with The Grand Design to become a full-time bellydance teacher and promoter.

Charlotte Desorgher is one of the UK’s top dancers and teachers. She is much in demand to teach and perform in shows and festivals around the UK and Europe as well as teaching regular weekly classes in Croydon and Crawley.
In 2007 Charlotte created hipsinc, the first bellydance franchise in the UK (if not the world.) Charlotte trained several of her best students to teach and these went on to become hipsinc franchisees, teaching regular weekly classes and putting on their own local events as well as joining in with main group events.
Hipsinc is now one of the biggest and busiest bellydance schools in the country with over 800 students throughout the southeast.
Charlotte also runs high profile events with international bellydance stars and in 2009 she co-organised International Bellydance Congress, the largest bellydance festival in Europe, attended by 1000 bellydancers from around the world.
Charlotte’s goals are to raise the level of professionalism of bellydancing in the UK and, along the way, to help change the image of bellydancing in the eyes of the general public.
