Your teacher, Lea Smith
The popularity of Lea Smith’s classes in East Grinstead and Redhill are down to her warm, welcoming personality and sense of fun. At Lea’s classes you will learn loads in a safe environment, have enormous fun, discover music from the other side of the world and meet lovely new friends.
As well as introducing beginners to this ancient art form Lea loves working with her students supporting local community events and bringing joy to adults with learning difficulties as well as residents in care homes. She has also been fortunate to teach at a local women’s refuge and hospice in support of The Company of Dreams.
Lea tends to focus on Egyptian style bellydance to music from the Middle East but is also happy to fuse it with western dance styles. She also loves to use props such as the veil, Isis wings and fan veils to add to the dance and reflect the complexities of the music.
Lea also organises our very popular Bellydance Saturday Club at Edenbridge Leisure Centre. This started as a non scary way to encourage her own students to try new teachers and styles but is now delighted to welcome dancers of all levels from all over the South East.
